Carbon Monoxide and Natural Gas Safety Go Hand in Hand
Carbon Monoxide (CO) Awareness Month is a time to focus on protecting what matters most: our homes, families, and communities. We believe true home safety begins with awareness and reliable gas detection plays a vital role.
Both carbon monoxide and natural gas are invisible threats that can put lives at risk when leaks go undetected. Carbon monoxide is completely odorless and produced by incomplete combustion from common household appliances like furnaces, water heaters, and fireplaces. Natural gas leaks - primarily methane - can have a distinct rotten egg smell and is highly flammable and can lead to explosions if it accumulates.
Although the dangers are different, the solution is the same: early detection saves lives. That’s why CO safety and natural gas safety go hand in hand - and why both deserve attention this November.
